Axar Patel was not picked in India’s playing XI for the first test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad.
The first test between Indian Cricket Team and West Indies Cricket Team began on Thursday, October 2, at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams will clash in two test matches during the series, which is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.
India, after losing the toss, were asked to field first and they went with the combination of three all-rounders, one spinner and two frontline pacers. With Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja being first choice spin-bowling all-rounders, and Nitish Kumar Reddy getting a chance, this meant that Axar Patel had to face the unfortunate snub despite having a great record with bat and ball in home tests.
Axar Patel, who wasn’t in the side for England test tour, made a comeback to the test team for the West Indies series. His record in tests at his home ground, Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, is exceptional and his snub came as a massive surprise.
