Tagenarine Chanderpaul was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj as Nitish Kumar Reddy took a brilliant catch.

The first test between Indian Cricket Team and West Indies Cricket Team is underway at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. After the Shubman Gill-led side declared their first innings at 448/5d, gaining a 286-run lead, they have been sensational with the ball and also on the field.

Mohammed Siraj provided India with the first breakthrough in the second innings as he dismissed the West Indies opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul. However, the credit of that wicket goes more to Nitish Kumar Reddy than Siraj. The opening batter played a shot towards square leg, where Reddy came up with a magical effort.

Reddy dived towards his left side and took the ‘catch of the match’ to dismiss Chanderpaul for eight runs off 23 deliveries. The batter was dismissed by Siraj for duck in the first innings as well as he failed to make a mark with the bat in both innings.

Earlier in the game, the West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first in the encounter. In the first innings, they were bowled out for 162 runs with a four-wicket haul by Siraj and three wickets by Jasprit Bumrah.

India had a wonderful start with the bat as opener KL Rahul (100) slammed a brilliant ton and skipper Shubman Gill (50) scoring a half-century. Later, Dhruv Jurel (125) and Ravindra Jadeja (104*) hammered centuries to drive the team’s total to 448/5 before they declared the innings right before start of day three’s play.

Earning a lead of 286 runs after the first innings, India gained a dominating position in the match. The visitors have struggled with their batting in the second innings too, losing their top-order batters cheaply.
