Three best players for India from SAFF U17 Championship 2025 group stage

India finished at the top of group B with an unbeaten record.

India finished their group stage campaign on a high after scraping three points against Pakistan in a 3-2 thriller. The Blue Colts have maintained their unbeaten record to qualify for the semi-finals in style. The defending champions have locked their semi-final fixture against Nepal on September 25, 2025.

However, the group stage has not been a smooth ride for Bibiano’s team. The Blue Colts had to dig deep against Bhutan and Pakistan, pushing the players to go for that extra mile. The group stage saw various players putting their hands up and rising when the occasion demanded.

Dallalmuon Gangte

The youngster from NorthEast United FC has emerged as a standout performer for Bibiano’s team in the group stage. His crucial contributions in the advanced areas of the pitch created goalscoring chances for the defending champions, putting the opposition under pressure.

Not just with his creativity, but Gangte also stood out with his goal-scoring prowess. Whenever he had an opportunity to register his name on the scoresheet, he did that with finesse and composure. Gangte has three goals to his name so far in the competition, which also includes a goal against Pakistan.

Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam

Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam showed his class against Pakistan on Monday. But it is not only his performance against Pakistan that has made him one of the best players for the Blue Colts in the group stage.

Gunleiba’s consistency throughout the group stage has been one of the reasons India have an unblemished record in the tournament. His work rate and the ability to create when there’s a lull makes him an asset for the team and the manager.

Rahan Ahmed

Rahan Ahmed? Sounds more like ‘Rescueman’ Ahmed. If the Blue Colts have topped the group stage after an unbeaten run, this talented lad has a lot to do with that.

Against Bhutan, India were struggling to break the deadlock against a resilient defense. Bibiano turned his attention towards Rahan and brought him as a substitution and he proved to be a ‘super substitution.’ The youngster scored the solitary goal to collect all three points for his team.

It was an action replay against Pakistan. India and Pakistan were pushing for a winner with a 2-2 score line in the closing phase of the game. In comes Rahan and seals the deal for India with a poacher’s finish in the box to secure the top spot for the Blue Colts.
