Originally from Kolkata, Patra was a part of the AIFF Elite Academy and played for them in age-group tournaments. He was a part of the India national U-16 side in 2015-16 and since 2017 has also been a part of the Indian U-19 side. He was signed by Bengaluru FC and played for their reserve side in the I-League 2nd division last season.
