Raju Gaikwad is a promising and tough defender who can play as stopper back or side back. He is famous for his long thrown ins. Sports runs in his blood as his father was a boxer and brother a footballer for Air India. Gaikwad started his football career at the Tata Football Academy after which he was roped into the AIFF XI/Indian Arrows team which he also captained. After one season at the AIFF outfit he joined East Bengal. On the international front, the Mumbai lad who is inspired by Mahesh Gawli, has moved up the ladder from the under-19 under-23 teams to becoming a regular fixture in the senior India squad. The defender was a regular at FC Goa last year and will want to have a similar season with Mumbai City FC this time around.
