Born in Odhisa, Rakesh Oram is a versatile attacker capable of playing both up front and on the wings. After helping Sambaipur win the Biju Patnaik Gold Cup State-level Inter School football tournament in Bhubaneshwar in 2011, he was selected to join the AIFF Regional Academy (West Zone) in Navi Mumbai in 2012. He has also represented the Indian under-19 team at the Asia Championship trophy in Thailand and the AFC Cup in Palestine. He scored twice in three matches at the Asia Championship trophy. Oram has also played in Madrid as a part of India's under-15 team in the Copa Coca Cola International Football Tournament.
