The Reds suffered their second defeat of the season against Galatasaray.

After suffering an injury during his team’s 1-0 loss to Galatasaray, goalie Alisson Becker will not play against Chelsea this weekend. This is according to Liverpool coach Arne Slot.

At Rams Park, the Brazilian international seemed to take a knock and was replaced in the 56th minute by Giorgi Mamardashvili. His injury will be carefully evaluated in the days ahead. He is expected to miss Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

Arne Slot says Alisson is ruled out for the Chelsea game

In the last two seasons, Alisson Becker has missed most of the matches due to injury. Due to a hamstring issue, he missed more than two months last season, from early October to mid-December.

“It’s never positive if you go off like this,” Slot told Amazon Prime Video after the game. “You can be sure he’s not going to play on Saturday.”

“He felt something when he had to reach for the ball,” added Slot in his news conference.

Liverpool had a gloomy evening in Istanbul. Galatasaray prevailed due to a penalty kick from Victor Osimhen in the first half after Dominik Szoboszlai was deemed to have committed a foul in the penalty area.

Midway through the second half, Hugo Ekitike, the Reds’ striker, hobbled off due to an injury.

“After the game, that’s always the difficult thing with these moments when players feel like it is not too bad, but when you just walk around it is something different than when you make a sprint or have to shoot on target.”

“He said he couldn’t continue so we had to take him off. Let’s see how he is for the weekend.”

Following a Premier League loss against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Liverpool have now lost back-to-back games for just the second time under Slot’s leadership. The injuries made the evening even more painful.
