The centre-forward scored a brace against Chelsea at Allianz Arena.

Harry Kane made history with his brace against Chelsea in Bayern Munich’s first game of the 2025-26 Champions League, breaking David Beckham’s record.

It was as usual business for Kane, who has remained prolific in front of the net since joining Bayern Munich. There has barely been a game in which he has failed to score a goal.

The Englishman first converted a penalty in the 27th minute to give his side a double lead, then scored from open play in the 63rd minute to register two goals to guide Bayern to a deserved 3-1 win.

Following a brace, he has now taken his Champions League goal contributions tally to 53 – 42 goals and 11 assists, which is now a record for an English star in the competition.

David Beckham held this record until yesterday night with 52 goal contributions while playing for Manchester United and Real Madrid. However, Kane has now overtaken him in that landmark.

Moreover, he also joined a set of group to score 20+ goals for two different clubs in the competition, with Bayern and Tottenham Hotspur.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the first player to reach that mark with Real Madrid and Manchester United, while Neymar did so with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Furthermore, Kane has now recorded 95 goals in 102 games for Bayern in all competitions and is now just five goals away from scoring 100 goals for the club.

Following the game, the former Tottenham striker spoke to the media and expressed his feelings.

“It was a nice couple of goals,” Kane told TNT Sports. “The penalty is always nice to score but the second goal was a good finish. Great pressure from the guys, I just found myself in a bit of space and was able to bend it into the far corner.”
