The forward was reportedly forced to play with an injury against Turkey.
Lamine Yamal’s unavailability for the FC Barcelona game against Newcastle United due to a groin problem has left the club reeling over his absence.
However, there has been more to this after the forward returned from the international break and was already out with an injury. Reports revealed he was forced to play in Spain’s game against Turkey in World Cup qualifiers.
Following their game against Bulgaria, the 18-year-old was suffering from back pain, and it was expected that he wouldn’t start against Turkey. But he was given an injection by the doctors and physiotherapists of the Spanish national team for their encounter against Turkey.
Furthermore, before joining the national team, Yamal was already experiencing pain in the sacroiliac region, although he was trusted to play in the matches, which sparked fury at Barcelona.
Yamal then returned to the club with an injury. Since then, a feud has erupted between the national team and the club, after Barca blamed the national team for playing Yamal with an injury.
How the Spanish Football Federation has treated Yamal despite his injury left Barcelona furious

However, according to Cadena SER, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has said that Yamal had no discomfort and was “injected Voltaren into his spine because he couldn’t leave the hotel and asked us not to play.”
Barca coach Hansi Flick hit out at the national team after the player missed their game against Valencia despite the club easing past with a 6-0 scoreline. Speaking to the media before the game, he said:
“Lamine Yamal will not be available. He went with the national team in pain and did not train. They gave him painkillers to play.
“They had at least a three-goal lead in every match, and he played 73 minutes and 79, and between matches he couldn’t train. That is not taking care of the player. I am very sad about this.”
The Catalan side will next return to action when they travel to St. James Park to face Newcastle United in their first Champions League game of the season.
