Jose Mourinho agrees to become next Benfica manager: Report

The Portuguese coach will return to the club where it all started for him.
Ben Jacobs claims that Jose Mourinho, who began his managerial career with SL Benfica about 25 years ago, has agreed to take over as the club’s new manager.
Following their shocking 3-2 Champions League loss to Qarabag at home, Bruno Lage was fired.
After 16 minutes, the Lisbon team had a 2-0 lead, but Qarabag pulled off an incredible comeback to win the Champions League match, becoming the first Azerbaijani team to do it.
It’s interesting to note that Mourinho lost his Fenerbahce job when Benfica beat them in the Champions League playoffs last month.
When Benfica play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on September 30, Mourinho will also make his comeback visit to the London club. After accepting the position at the Turkish club more than a year ago, the 62-year-old was sacked due to the club’s poor performance.
Mourinho returns to a place where it all started
Benfica is where Mourinho started his managerial career in 2000. However, he departed after just ten games because of a disagreement with the club president. They won five games under his leadership, including a 3-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon.
After leading FC Porto to the UEFA Champions League win in 2004, Mourinho was hired by Chelsea, where he won three Premier League titles in two stints.
The 62-year-old won the LaLiga championship with Real Madrid after winning a treble while managing Inter Milan.
However, after failing to succeed at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho’s days of leading the top teams in Europe appear to be coming to an end.
The Lisbon-based team have lagged behind city rivals Sporting CP in the last two seasons of the Primeira Liga. With ten points from four games, they are now ranked sixth in the league.
