Hyderabad Football Club, established on 27 August 2019 and based in Hyderabad, Telangana, competes in the Indian Super League (ISL), the premier division of Indian football. The club was formed to take over the ISL slot from Pune City, with the transfer of ownership stakes completed on 26 August 2019. Hyderabad FC kicked off their inaugural professional season in October 2019. On 16 June 2020, the club entered into a strategic partnership with German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund, focusing on grassroots development. Home games are hosted at the G.M.C Balayogi Athletic Stadium, located in the Gachibowli suburb of Hyderabad, which can accommodate around 30,000 fans. The team's debut on 25 October 2019 ended in a 0–5 loss to ATK, and they concluded their first ISL season in 10th place, missing out on the playoffs. However, Hyderabad FC clinched their first championship title during the 2021–22 ISL season, overcoming Kerala Blasters in the final with a 3–1 victory in penalties.
